Hold the phone near drywall or concrete and watch magnetic field strength in microtesla change as it passes studs, steel framing, pipes, rebar, screws or nails. Four modes cover a 6 µT stud finder, a 10 µT general metal finder, an EMF scanner with X/Y/Z values, and raw magnetometer output; a graph and tone help identify the strongest response before drilling. The important limit is the sensor itself: it reacts to ferromagnetic iron, steel and nickel, not copper, brass, aluminium, gold, silver, plastic, wood or glass. Its practical reach is roughly 5 to 25 cm, so it cannot clear a wall with certainty.
