Your Privacy Choices

Last updated: 24 September 2026 · String Tuner 1.0 and later

There is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is collected. String Tuner has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and we do not sell or share personal data — so there is no consent banner, no tracking prompt and no “Do not sell or share” switch to find. This page lists the controls you do have over what stays on your device.

✓ NoSelling or sharingWe hold no data to sell or share
✓ NoTrackingNo advertising ID, no cross-app tracking

1. Microphone

Needed only to hear your instrument. Sound is analysed live and never recorded. You can switch access off at any time; reference tones, the drone and the metronome keep working.

2. Camera

Optional, used only to scan QR codes in teacher mode and for shared scales. Nothing is photographed or saved. Everything else in the app works without it.

3. Google components on Android

On Android, QR codes are read by Google ML Kit through Google Play services, which may send Google its own diagnostic and usage data (see the privacy policy, section 2). Your choices:

None of this applies on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch: there QR codes are read by Apple's frameworks on the device.

4. Deleting what the app stores

5. Backups

The app's data can be part of your own device backup. That backup is between you and Apple or Google, and you decide whether it happens.

6. Teacher mode and student names

Student names exist only if a teacher types them, and only on the teacher's phone — result codes never contain a name. Teachers can leave the name empty, edit it, delete one assignment with everything handed in for it, or use Delete all data. A CSV export is a file the teacher chooses to share; delete it wherever it was sent.

7. Apple Watch, widget, Siri and ratings

8. Your rights

You have the rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection under the GDPR (and equivalent rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA). Because the app sends us nothing, we hold no data about you from the app — you exercise these rights directly on your device, as described above. For any question, write to tom@lapnito.cz. You may also complain to the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ) or to the authority in your own country.
